課程概述 |
For inexperienced but business major students, even they took the introductory business and management course in their freshman year, or learned by themselves informally, we have reasonable doubt if those students really know how well they prepare themselves well for the real business world challenge, and are ready to take the roles as professional managers.
Do they understand the nature of business and management?
Have they been equipped with proper skills to be competent in their career ahead?
After studying knowledge in various function fields of business, students need a final opportunity to review the basics of business and management, and integrate separate parts of their learning together from a perspective of a middle level manager, not a CEO. Therefore the design of this course is to focus on four principles: views, skills, thoughts, and best practices of related subjects.
In order to achieve the above purposes effectively, the pedagogy adopted in this course will be diversified, which includes stimulating lectures, Manager Forum(one hour conducted by invited guest manager in selected sessions), HBS case studying, group presentation of assigned article, and probably some site tours.
We expected the students will learn how can be an effective mid level manager and develop an integral understanding of the essentials and reality of business, management, as well as leadership

課程要求 |
a) Late to class is not allowed, or an additional reading summary is to be submitted.
b) 80% class attendance is absolutely required, or 10 points will be taken out for each excused or no excused absenteeism.
c) In-class participation is strictly required, specifically represented by preparation to the class, as well as meaning speaking and sharing of views, opinions about course material in the class.
d) There is no free lunch in this class; sit-in auditing is not allowed in this class. And poorly participated students will be asked to leave the class during the semester.
e) Required reading material, which includes: books, cases and articles used are at the expense of each participating student.
